It was the final day of play today in the Women's NSW 72-hole Stroke Play Championship at Castle Hill Country Club.

Holding a commanding 12 stroke lead after three rounds, Breanna Elliott (Yarrawonga & Border GC, VIC) was always going to be hard to beat. Her form all week had been outstanding, and today was no different, shooting a one over 75, to finish the 72-holes on 12 under 284. Elliott was a clear winner, with runner up Ashlee Dewhurst having 73 today to finish 11 shots behind on 295. Shelley Shin (Concord GC) and Whitney Hillier (Joondalup GC, WA) tied for third place with 298.

In the Margery McWilliam Bowl Christine Dickson (Port Macquarie GC) held onto her lead, shooting a 99 round today, to finish with 189. Runner up was Amy Chu (Liverpool GC) on 193.

It was the third round in the Women’s NSW 72-hole Stroke Play Championship today at Castle Hill Country Club.
Breanna Elliott (Yarrawonga & Border GC, VIC) has retained her lead after the first two days of play, with another strong round of five under par 69, to give her a total 209. Elliott holds a commanding lead of 12 shots from second place pair, Charlotte Thomas (Sentosa GC, VIC) and Cathleen Santoso (The Lakes GC). Thomas had a good round of three under 71, while Santoso finished with 75, both players finishing the three rounds on 221. A further one shot behind on 222 is Ashlee Dewhurst (Royal Hobart GC, TAS), while Whitney Hillier (Joondalup GC, WA), Grace Lennon (Heidelberg GC, VIC) and Shelley Sin (Concord GC) are tied for fifth place on 223.

A seeded draw has been completed for the final round of play, commencing Friday 18 May at 8.00am.

Today also saw the first round of play in the Women’s Margery McWilliam Bowl event. Christine Dickson (Port Macquarie GC) has taken an early five shot lead, finishing her round with 90. In second is Amy Chu (Liverpool GC) with 95, with the next three players all tied on 100.

LEADERBOARD - 72 HOLE STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

Another clear day greeted the players on Day 2 of the Women's NSW 72-hole Stroke Play Championship.

Yesterday’s leader Breanna Elliott (Yarrawonga & Border GC, VIC) had another strong round, shooting a par round of 72 to sit on 140 after 36-holes. She leads the field by six shots from Shelley Shin (Concord GC) and Cathleen Santoso (NSW GC) scoring 74 and 73 respectively to sit on 146. A number of players are a further one and two shots behind.

A seeded draw has been completed for the third round of play, commencing Thursday 17 May at 8.00am.

DRAW – 72 HOLE STROKE PLAY - THURSDAY 17 MAY, 2012

Winners were determined in both the NSW Mid Amateur Championship and NSW Club Champion of Champions today, both events being played over 36-holes.

In the NSW Mid Amateur Championship it went right down to the wire. Yesterday’s leader Gemma Dooley (NSW GC) had 83 today to go with her 77 yesterday for a total 160. However not to be over run, Avondale’s Sharon Thompson had a fantastic round of 78, which with her 82 also gave her a total of 160. It therefore went to a count back, with Thompson taking the title.

In the NSW Club Champion of Champions Concord Golf Club’s Shelley Shin was victorious. Shin finished with two great scores of 72 and 74 for a total 146, to win by eight shots. Lauren Hibbert (Pennant Hills GC) was the Runner Up, while Olivia Wilson (NSW GC) was third. The Nett event was won by Molly Lavercombe (Cumberland GC).

The course was in fantastic condition for the first day of play in the Women’s 72-hole Stroke Play Championship today at Castle Hill Country Club.

Breanna Elliott (Yarrawonga & Border GC, VIC) shot a fantastic round of 6-under par 68, blitzing the Club record by four shots. She leads the field by four, with Shelley Shin (Concord GC) sitting in second place on two-under 72. New Zealand’s Emily Perry (Lochiel GC) and Cathleen Santoso (The Lakes GC) are tied for third place, shooting a one-under par round of 73.

In the Women’s NSW Mid Amateur Championship, Gemma Dooley (NSW GC) leads the field, shooting three-over 77. Sharon Thompson (Avondale GC) is second with 82, while last year’s winner Kim Burke (Shelley Beach GC) is third with 85.

In the Women’s Club Champion of Champions event, Shelley Shin (Concord GC) is currently in the lead on two-under 72. Adrianna Brent (The Lakes GC) is four shots behind, finishing her round two-over 76.

The 2012 Women’s NSW Amateur Championship has been around for 103 years and is the pinnacle event of women’s amateur golf in NSW. Over 80 competitors will contest this year’s event, being held at Castle Hill Country Club and Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club from 14-22 May 2012. With the standard of entries exceptionally high, the quality of golf all round is set to be world-class.

Draws (Rds 1 & 2) and Player Information

This year’s field includes the top three Women’s Australian Amateur players - Breanna Elliott (Yarrawonga & Border Golf Club, VIC), Whitney Hillier (Joondalup Country Club, WA) and Grace Lennon (Heidelberg Golf Club, VIC). Lennon is the reigning champion in this event, taking out the title last year at The Australian Golf Club.

All members of the Women’s NSW State Team (who recently finished fourth in the Australian Interstate Series) are also competing – Adrianna Brent (The Lakes), Lauren Hibbert (Pennant Hills), Carly Beck (The Australian), Olivia Wilson (NSW), Cathleen Santoso (The Lakes) and Nerida Gregory (NSW).

Internationals include Emily Perry (Lochiel GC, New Zealand) – member of the NZ Women’s National Team, Fleur Reynolds (Royal Auckland GC, NZ), Jan Manoonpong (Remuera GC, NZ) and Charlotte Thomas (Setosa GC, Singapore).

There are also a host of inter-state contenders including Ali Orchard (Surfers Paradise GC, QLD) and Nadine Smith (Royal Perth GC, WA).

Local 15-year-old Isabella Chan will fly the flag for host Club Castle Hill Country Club. Isabella currently plays off a handicap of 5.

The 2012 Women’s NSW Amateur Championship incorporates the Women’s NSW 72-hole Championship, Women’s NSW Mid- Amateur Championship, Margery McWilliam Bowl, Women’s NSW Club Champions Championship and Women’s NSW Amateur Championship.For further information on these events, click here.
