New South Welshman Roy Vandersluis leads the Australian Men’s Senior Amateur by one stroke after the opening round at Yarra Yarra Golf Club in Melbourne.
Vandersluis finished with a 3-over par 75 to lead Australia’s Number 2 ranked senior Peter King (QLD) and fellow New South Welshman Martin Turner who finished with 76s.
In warm and windy conditions, defending champion Stefan Albinski opened with a 7-over par 79 to sit in 15th place.
David Limbach (NSW) recorded one of the day’s highlights with an ace on the par 3 11th hole.
Kiwi John Rademakers is the leading international player in 10th place following a 78.
The second round begins on Wednesday.
