Howlong's MYGolf tournament winners!
On Sunday the 2nd September 42 juniors took the picturesque Howlong Country Golf Club layout for the inaugural MYGolf junior tournament.
A grade was won by Wodonga’s Zoe McDonald from Rutherglen’s Jessie Martin. Golf Australia’s inaugural MYGolfer of the Month Elyse Thiel took the prize of best Girl with Oscar Ebert winning the best boys prize in a count back from Ryan Coonan.
In the intermediate division Marcus Reid was the winner from George Ebert. Ebony Hoskin took the prize for best girl on a count back from Amy Rebbechi while Caleb Johnson took out the best boys prize.
The Beginners was won by Abbey McCormack from Jaylen Fitzgerald. The pocket rocket Sam Coonan was the boy’s winner with new entrant Caitlyn Bolger winning the girls on a count back from Chloe Hoskin.
The Howlong Country Golf Club was very pleased to be able to hold this inaugural junior tournament which was open to MYGolf clinic participants. The Club was named the 2011 Jack Newton Junior Golf Club of the Year and the junior tournament adds another dimension to the already successful junior program.
The MYGolf Bronze graduates of the program were also announced on Sunday with the following juniors receiving their certificates; Ryan Coonan, Tabitha Cross, William Buckley, Jesse Martin, Zoe McDonald, Kianne Steve, Shaun Moore and Elyse Thiel. The advanced graduates achieved the Bronze Skills Challenge over the past 12 weeks of the MYGolf Program.
The Trophy presentation was also held with Ryan Coonan being named as the Advanced Most Consistent Junior with Shaun Moore the Most improved boy and Kianne Steve the most improved girl. In the Intermediate A Group Larni Groenewald was the most consistent junior with Lachlan Boyd the most improved boy and Eliza Rebbechi the most improved girl. In Intermediate B Kyle Blumoser was the most consistent with Jack Kelso the most improved boy and Amy Rebbechi the most improved girl. In The beginners group Jessica Boyd won the most consistent with Tom Rebbechi winning the most improved boy and Chloe Hoskin the most improved girl.
The Junior Spring Social Competition gets underway this week. The competition is run over the full week with weekly winners to be announced each Monday. This will give the juniors the opportunity to play after school on weekends or on a day or evening during the school holidays.
