The golfing community is abuzz in the Murray District as the news spreads of a sensational round of golf at Commercial Albury Golf Club yesterday.

Zach Murray, a leading junior in the district, has recently won the MDGA Championships, the Howlong Club Championships and the Commercial Albury Club Championships to name a few. However this must rank as one of his greatest achievements to date.

Nine birdies, eight pars and one bogey saw him end his round with an unbelievable 62, reportedly the lowest score ever produced at Commercial Albury Golf Club in its 113 year history.

The previous lowest score at the course was 64 carded by two professionals in a pro-am in 1977 with golfing legend, Jack Nicklaus, shooting 68 in his one and only round there.

The only slight downside to Zach’s remarkable achievement is the fact that the course was not played from the plates yesterday and hence it cannot be counted as a course record.

The current course record of 65 is held by local left handed legend Graham Hulm.
However Graham will need to keep an eye on Zach in the future, for at 15 years of age you’d have to say he’s got a lot of golf left in him.
