Women’s Senior Order of Merit
The Women’s Senior Order of Merit is open to female amateur golfers, 50 years of age and over, who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap, and who have a handicap of 28 and under. Players are required to register with Golf NSW to participate.
The SOOM will run from the first event after the NSW Seniors Tournament each year and will conclude at the NSW Seniors Tournament in the following year with the presentation of the Trophy.
A selected number of nominated events make up the Women’s Senior Order of Merit. Events which have Jean Derrin status automatically qualify as SOOM events.
Depending on the scratch score and their placing in the event (in competition with other registered senior golfers) registered participants receive points.
The winner of the annual SOOM Trophy will be the registered player who accumulates the highest number of points from her best 8 results for the SOOM events listed.
The events (see attached calendar) are run by the individual host Clubs.
Men’s Senior Order of Merit
The Men’s Senior Order of Merit is open to male amateur golfers, 55 years of age and over, who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap. Players are required to register with Golf NSW to participate.
A selected number of nominated events make up the Men’s Senior Order of Merit. Each Men’s Senior Order of Merit event will have points allocated to participants, depending on their scratch score and place in the event.
The winner of the annual Men’s Senior Order of Merit Trophy will be the registered player who has accumulated the highest number of points from their best 12 results (points awarded) from the Men’s Senior Order of Merit listed events.
The events (see attached calendar) are run by the individual host Clubs.
**NOTE** All players who enter the NSW Senior Championship receive automatic entry into that year's Senior Order of Merit.
There are a number of events where Senior players (men) are selected to represent Golf NSW.
- Australian Seniors Teams Event - run in conjunction with the Australian Senior Championship, where a team of four represent each State and Territory.
- Interstate Senior Teams Challenge – A team of up to seven from NSW, Victoria and Queensland compete for the ‘Walking Stick trophy’, which is run on a rotational basis in conjunction with the States senior championships.
