No Southern Comfort for Perry

Aberdeen's Dylan Perry sits in 14th position after the first round of the Southern Amateur Championship in North Carolina.

Despite battling a stomach bug, The 22-year-old carded a respectable three under par 69 at the Country Club of North Carolina in a round that contained five birdies and two bogies.

"I played solidly. I turned one under and had a couple under on the back- nine and lipped out for eagle on the last."

"I didn't do anything special out there, missed a couple of 10-12 footers I should've made," he added.

Karl Vilips leads the way, firing a seven under par 65 for a share of the lead, Perry is the next best Aussie, alongside Queensland's Shae Wools-Cobb.

"I'm feeling confident leading into tomorrow knowing that I can have a better one than I did today," Perry added.

Hopefully for Perry the stomach bug will subside and the dominant form he displayed in the United Kingdom will return.

"I went to doctors this afternoon, but not much they could do. They give me what they call GI cocktail to numb the feeling and help me to get some rest," Perry said.
