The Hunter Valley's Dylan Perry is tied for the lead after the second round of the European Amateur Championship at Walton Heath, in Surrey.

The 22-year old world number 26 added a three-under par 69 overnight to his first round 66. His round included three birdies and an eagle on the back nine, courtesy of a red-hot putter.

"I Didn't hit it as solid as yesterday, but the putter was hot. So I scrambled well on the front nine, then got hot on the back." Perry said.

Alongside Perry at the top of the leader board is Victor Pastor of Spain and Switzerland’s Jeremy Freiberghaus. Of the other Australian's in the field, West Australian Ben Ferguson carded a 2-under par 70 to be in a tie for 52nd, Kiran Day is a shot behind Ferguson in 64th, Min Woo Lee posted a disappointing 77, while Canberra's Josh Armstrong and West Australian Haydn Barron posted 76 and 77 respectively.

“All in all, I’m very pleased with where I am heading into the third round,” added Perry, who was runner-up in last weekend’s Amateur Championship.

With almost 30 players within five shots of the lead, competition for the title over the weekend is going to be tight. “It’s always good to see a lot of bunched players,” Perry said. “Everyone is playing well, and you’ve just got to keep doing the right things and put the scores on the board.”
