Perry secures Japanese Tour card

Dylan Perry
GRADUATE: Dylan Perry has secured playing rights on the Japanese Tour for 2019.

It wasn’t his best round, but the Hunter Valley’s Dylan Perry has secured playing rights on the Japanese Tour for 2019.

Perry, who made his pro debut at last month's AVJennings NSW Open, could only manage an even-par final round of 72, but it was enough to finish in a tie for 20th place and grab the 22nd card on a countback, with the top 25 players securing playing privileges for next year.

"I'm not sure how many starts i'll get, but it feels good to get a card," Perry said.

The next best Aussie in the field was Sydneysider Andrew Evans, who carded a final round 68 to jump into a tie for 31st and at least ensure himself of some status on the lucrative tour for next year.

The Kiwi pair of Harry Bateman and Ben Campbell finished in a tie for 42nd at 13 under, well back from the mark, while Cronulla’s Scott Arnold shot one of the rounds of the day, a seven-under 65. It was too little, too late, however, as his disappointing start to the week proved too hard to overcome.

Of the other Aussies competing in the final stage, West Australian Scott Strange finished in 63rd, and Queenslander Neven Basic finished 91st.

The first event on the Japanese Tour will be the co-sanctioned Singapore Open in mid-January.
